Why Ducks?

The rubber ducks you see on our site have a fun backstory! It all started as a joke between my husband and me when we were dating. In his first language, “Bibis” means “Young Ducks,” and it became a playful nickname. The tradition began on our first Valentine’s Day together when we agreed not to spend more than $5.00 on a gift.  I found a cute Valentine’s card with a little boy holding a rubber duck in a bathtub that said, “Be my Valentine”  The inside inside message had a playful twist that read, “Or the Duck Gets It!” I paired it with a rubber duck bath toy, and the joke stuck.

A few years later, while traveling in Florence, Italy, we saw a rubber duck on a bicycle outside a museum, which felt like a sign! From then on, rubber ducks became part of our travels, we even used them as our wedding topper!

Today, we still enjoy the rubber duck jokes, but we also admire ducks for their incredible ability to fly long distances. This love for ducks inspired the name for our travel blog, “Roaming Bibis.” It’s a fun and meaningful name that reminds us that travel, like ducks, can take you to unexpected places.

That’s how Roaming Bibis came to be—a mix of humor, adventure, and a lot of heart. We’re excited to share our journey with you!
